How to comfort someone over text Follow
You can comfort someone over text by acknowledging what they’re going through. Whether it’s a loss or an illness or just a day of the winter blahs, start by validating how they feel.
Next, ask if there’s anything that you can do (within your capacity, of course) to help uplift them. Maybe it’s a matter of suggesting a future hang out, offering to take something off their plate (or put something on it, if they’re the kind of friend who finds comfort in food), or maybe it’s just to share a sweet anecdote that will bring them a smile.
Finally, remind them that you’re always there—even if it’s just virtually. Knowing they have you in their corner as a source of support can go a long way to providing comfort.
If physical contact is out-of-the-question, comforting someone over text takes a little extra finesse.
