Should I clear history or use Incognito Mode for privacy? Follow
Feeling protective of your online activities? There are two ways to ensure that you limit or erase your digital trail when using the internet.
Both Incognito mode and the act of clearing your browser are functional options but they serve different purposes.
Using Incognito mode will prevent your browser from saving history, cookies, and site data during the specific session. Once you close the Incognito browser window, there is no longer a way to access your past session’s activities. Note that while there will not be a trail visible to you, your internet provider, employers, and the websites that you visit will still see and be able to track your activities.
Alternatively, using your regular browser mode and then clearing your browser history afterwards removes the records of the sites that you’ve visited. Clearing your history does not stop any new tracking from taking place, nor does it erase everything.
To be extra cautious, it’s a good idea to both use Ignition mode as well as clear your browser history on occasion.
