What does KMS mean in text? Follow
KMS in text is a dramatic or sarcastic shorthand for “kill myself.” It’s not meant to be taken literally and is thrown out in chats with casual indifference. Anyone with a dark sense of humour and a penchant for melodrama, might have KMS in their regular texting repertoire.
For example, “Ugh I spilled coffee on my white shirt. I might as well KMS and skip today.”
That being said, because KMS does reference self-harm, it does help to trust your gut and be especially mindful of tone and context. If someone says KMS frequently or in a concerning way, check in with them. It’s okay to reach out to make sure they’re just joking around. As with all texting slang and abbreviations, when in doubt, just ask the sender to clarify.
